Another way to look at our professional career is to treat it like a product that can be actively managed, marketed, and improved upon in order to achieve our professional goals.

By thinking of your career as a product, wecan approach your job search, career advancement, and personal branding with a strategic mindset, rather than simply reacting to opportunities as they arise.

First step can be to define your target market: Just like a product, our career needs to have a target audience. Who are we trying to appeal to with our skills and experience? Are we targeting a specific industry or type of company? Identifying our target market will help you focus in the right direction

Second is to develop a value proposition: What makes our career unique and valuable to our target market? What are the skills and experiences that set us apart from other candidates? Clearly communicating your value proposition can help stand out in the job market.

Third can be to create a marketing plan: Once we know who we are targeting and what we have to offer, it’s time to start promoting our career. This might involve updating your LinkedIn profile, networking with industry professionals, or even creating a personal website to showcase our skills and experience. The key is to be proactive in finding ways to get your name and qualifications in front of potential employers.

Next is to manage our brand: Our personal brand is the way that we present our self to the world. Take control of the brand by consistently presenting a professional image online and in person, and by maintaining a strong network of professional contacts.

Lastly, continue to iterate & improve the product: Our career is a living, breathing entity that needs to be nurtured and developed over time. Make sure we are continuously learning new skills and gaining new experiences to keep our career product competitive in the job market. This might involve taking on new challenges at work, pursuing additional education or certifications, or volunteering in the industry.
